Angle

Multiple perspectives exist on every topic.    Outlooks.  Viewpoints.  Angles.

My vocation, which happens to also be my passion, involves poverty.  There are dimensions and angles to poverty that bring all sorts of opinions into the public sphere.

Is poverty a result of laziness as the American Dream insinuates?    Is poverty a side-effect of mental illness?    Is poverty a curse of geography and birth?    

Jesus-people search for angles that emerge from the vertex of Jesus and His life and teachings.   What is the Jesus angle on poverty?

Jesus was born into poverty.   He was not mentally ill and he was not interested in accumulating wealth or position.   

In other words, Jesus did not run from poverty or look at being poor as something to overcome.  

What an angle.

Jesus cared for the poor, He fed the hungry, He looked at the poor not as His 'project', but as part of His purpose.  He was poor, He walked beside the poor, He loved the poor in the midst of His very own material poverty.

Lord, may Your angle be mine.
