School Tools 2009/2010
Good morning fellow home educators! It is our 2nd official day of school around here. We took yesterday off to enjoy friends from out of town and the circus!
Today, it is back to business. However, I wanted to participate in this Blog Hop sponsored by Darcy about curriculum... so, here goes!
One thing of note... other than cursory review of vocabulary learned, I've removed Latin for the year. Since we will most likely be moving to a Spanish-speaking country, Rosetta Stone Spanish is now cookin' on the foreign language burner.
Fourth Grade
Math/Logic - Teaching Textbooks 5 & lots of fun math games, Logic Links, etc.
Language Arts - Easy Grammar 4/5, Language Lessons by Sandi Queen, Phonetic Zoo Spelling, Writing Aids - Level 4 and journals for writing, lots of narration.
History - Tapestry of Grace - Upper Grammar - with all of the trimmings, BrainPop, Sheppard Software for geography games.
Science - Swimming Creatures of the 5th Day with lapbooks
Spanish - Rosetta Stone, Mi Vida Loca (BBC) - free immersion program
Circle Time - Letters of Paul by Notgrass, Prayer, Vocabulary Cartoons - Word of the Week, Memory Work, Poetry, Music, Professor Noggin games and whatever else I feel like throwing in for the day.
First Grade
Math - Saxon 2
Language Arts - Explode the Code, Language Lessons by Sandi Queen, All About Spelling, Writing Aids - Level 1 & journals, lots of narration
Literature - Five in a Row with lapbooks
History - Tapestry of Grace - Lower Grammar, BrainPop Jr., Sheppard Software for Geography games
Science - Swimming Creatures of the 5th Day with lapbook
Spanish - Rosetta Stone, Mi Vida Loca
Circle Time - Letters of Paul by Notgrass, Prayer, Vocabulary Cartoons - Word of the Week, Memory Work, Poetry, Music, Professor Noggin games and whatever else I feel like throwing in for the day.

As you can see, I've simplified my life quiet a bit by using many of the same resources for the two older kids. Thankfully, home school curriculum publishers 'get' the fact that kids can learn the same subject at different levels.
